knit, purl ....oh just give me a crochet hook

last time i visited my friend carmi she gave me this
knit and weave loom kit by martha stewart
the idea is an old one i remember from when i was a kid
and i think it was a lot more fun then
i just don't have the patience i used too
(carmi did have fun making these wonderful flowers)

it took me all day to start a few samples so carmi could display them while
on the shopping channel
when i got home i found some red yarn and thought i should actually finish something
so i started a scarf, it too me several(5)  evening just to get 6 inches done
and finally the "knitting tool/hook" broke!!
thank god, just give me a crochet hook and i'll have a whole scarf done in one nite!!!

encaustic class

it was hard to be inside today, it was 27c
but once i got out my boards i was inspired by a class mate
she was painting with blue and the map i used for my background
had some yellow in it so this became my palette for the day
above my finished piece, i used one of my favorite tree photos and
a section from a poem by e.e.cummings
below a detail shot of the texture, you can see part of the
map coming through the wax

inspired by the garden

playing around with some aluminium wire (12 and 18 gauge)
and a few beads
by the time i was finished it looked like a dragonfly
must have been inspired by all the time i've spent in the garden
i decided to make a few, i like the silver and blue one below

and get some homework done for marie's class

i've been combining all the lessons from week one and two
so that i can catch up
it's been fun discovering all kinds of  "looks" for just one photo

heads up!

i received this styrofoam head a few months ago from barb at busy bee's
after lots of ideas i finally got inspired while visiting my friend maries blog
i really enjoyed her images from  her venice carnival trip
which lead me to the dollar store and once the glue gun heated up  i was on a roll!

all the heads will be auctioned this month at bizzy b's in toronto
starting on friday, may 25, 2012, at 7:00 pm there will be a party at the store
the silent auction will run from May 25 to June 3.
all proceeds will support a great cause
Western Technical School's innovative Cyber Arts Program
if you would like to view all the heads take a look at the facebook page

strange tree

on the weekend i got a chance to wonder though home smith park on the humber river
my friend marianella wanted to show me her favorite tree
i can honestly say i have never seen anything like it
not sure what was going on but it was fun looking for faces

and as always it was relaxing being near the water
